Washi Wednesday: DIY Project - Washi Tape a Vase!

If you follow our Pinterest, you can see that our boards are filled with amazing things that can inspire you to get creative and even start some fun do-it-yourself projects! Inspired by some awesome pictures, we've gathered a couple of images from our own "Washi Tape Ideas" board for today's DIY Project: Washi Tape a Vase!

Add some fun and color to an ordinary vase with some washi tape! Simply tape it around the vase or cut fun shapes for a cool design! Washi tape a clear or a white vase and see how the transparent color will really add that pop!

Filofax Spotlight: Interview with AdamsFilo

Can you tell that we've made an awesome group of Filofax friends? Once again, to share the love with CoolPencilCase fans, here's another interview with an awesome filofaxer! Adam, of AdamsFilo, tells us what kind of pen he uses everyday, a little about masking stickers, and even links his youtube video sharing his "on-the-go" stationery...read the rest below!

1. Describe your love of stationery to us.
I've loved stationery since I was in school, I always wanted to try all different types of pens and pencils. I lost the love as I grew up but in the last couple of years i've regained it, big time! When I was younger I had no clue there was a huge world of stationery items out there! Now I have access to them all thanks to stores, like coolpencilcase, I love being able to try all of the different things and build my collection of stationery from all over the world! Its just so much fun!!

2. What do you love best about your favorite Filofax and why?
I have several Filofax's so it's pretty difficult to pick a favourite, but recently i've been enjoying my Grey Finsbury so much! The cover feels so great, its nice and stiff which is perfect to support the pages while writing. But it also has some cushion to the leather which feels so amazing to hold and carry! Plus its a gorgeous colour and theres plenty of pockets to take some goodies on the go!

3. Tell us about your favorite and most used Filofax accessory (bookmark, gel pen, stamp, etc).
One of the things I use every single day is my Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto pen. I have a 4 barrel Coleto that I carry in my Filofax. They write beautifully and I love having different colours to write with, i'm able to colour code the information I write down with the same pen!

4. Where are some of your favorite places to shop for Filofax accessories, school supplies, and crafts?
I have a few go-to stores for different things, for pens and paper my fav's are 'Jet Pens' and 'Cult Pens'. For other stationery items and Filofax accessories I love 'Cool Pencil Case' and 'Mochi Things'!

5. Can you give some tips on those who love decorating their Filofax pages but are on a budget?
Theres a great product called Masking stickers, they're available from eBay and Etsy sellers for a very reasonable price. They're small packets with 20+ sheets of stickers, each with different colours and designs. They're a great way to start decorating your Filofax pages. They come in several different sets so there will sure to be a design to suit everyone, my favourites are the plain colour set & pastel set!

6. When did you start using your Filofax and how did it change the way you prepared for the day/week/month?
I started to use my Filofax properly last March. I used to have little notes and reminders all over the place, scraps of paper around the house, notes on my iPhone. It just wasn't working for me, I needed somewhere to keep my whole life organised. Now I have a tool to keep track of every element in my life that is fun to used, so fun that it has become my hobby! Now everyday I will start by opening up my Filofax, looking at what I have to do that day and to see whats planned for the rest of the week using my weekly diary. I also have a monthly diary so I will go to that to see if theres anything important coming up like birthdays or appointments! I have a video about my diary set up here; http://youtu.be/4T7i-sggLaU

7. How do you organize all of your stationery and supplies?
I have some storage boxes that I use, I seperate my supplies by type so I can get to what I want quickly. Using boxes is great because although I love my stationery collection I don't want to see them cluttering up everywhere. So I keep everything organised and put away! I also have a pouch that I call my 'on-the-go' stationery, I keep a selection of my favourite supplies in that and I carry it with my Filofax so I always have something nearby to use. Filofax Spotlight: Interview with FiloCuteness

Continuing to spread the Filofax love, we interviewed more of our new Filofax friends and asked them a few questions about organization, their favorite items, and more. This week, we interviewed Amy, of Filocuteness, about her Filofax and more fun stuff. 1.  Describe your love of stationery to us.
As long as I can remember, I have loved stationery and school supplies.  There's just something fun and special about personalizing your organizational tools.  I have always enjoyed making a to-do list on a cute and colorful notepad and keeping my planner up to date with coordinating stickers and sticky notes.  I've learned that if it's fun to look at, I'm more likely to use it!

2.  What do you love best about your favorite Filofax and why?
I absolutely love the color and size of my Large (A5) kikki.K Mint Time Planner. It has lots of room to store notes and extra planning essentials and holds a lot of inserts.

3.  Tell us about your favorite and most used Filofax accessory. 
My favorite item to use in my planner is a decorative paper clip/bookmark.  I have a lot of different ones and try to coordinate them with my weekly page themes.  I also adore using my Cool Pencil Case "Sealed With a Kiss" pink heart pencil pouch. It currently holds all of my pens and pencils and looks great next to my planner.

5.  Can you give some tips to those who love decorating their Filofax pages but are on a budget?
Use stickers and washi tape to brighten up and personalize your pages. Shaped sticky notes and page flags are also an inexpensive way to add some flair.

6.  When did you start using your Filofax and how did it change the way you prepared for the day/week/month?
I bought my first Filofax in January 2013.  It made planning so much easier for me.  Because I have three children, it's so important for me to be able to plan ahead and keep important dates close at hand. I love being able to see my daily, weekly, and monthly appointments together in one planner. It's also nice to be able to customize it with sections for to-do lists, menu options, party planning, wish lists, etc.

7.  How do you organize all of your stationery and supplies? 
I keep everything in my desk. I use several pencil cases and pouches to organize my washi tape, sticky notes, clips, pens, and notepads. I store my stickers inside page protectors in a three ring binder.

Shining the spotlight on one of our awesome Filofax friends, we chatted with Candi, of FiloEyeCandi, and asked her a few questions about her own Filofax and more! Check out the interview below and see what she had to say on what sparked her interest for stationery, her favorite places to shop for Filofax accessories, and how her love for vintage has helped her organize!

1. Describe your love of stationery to us.
I guess the start of my love for stationery began for me back in 1992 when I was introduced to rubber stamps.  I started to take a few classes and began to create my own greeting cards.  To this day I am still collecting rubber stamps!  I just started pen-palling and use a lot of stationery.  I have even found some stationery to use in my Filofax (planner).

2. What do you love best about your favorite Filofax and why?
I love the fact that you can add basically anything into your Filofax.  I love to add Project Life Cards, Invitations and Pictures into my Filofax by using a single hole punch.  Whenever I receive an invitation in the mail I punch holes in it and add it to the week of the party!

3. Tell us about your favorite and most used Filofax accessory (bookmark, gel pen, stamp, etc).
Washi Tape!!!  I use it every week in my planner.

4. Where are some of your favorite places to shop for Filofax accessories, school supplies, and crafts?
Etsy, Cool Pencil Case, Michael's, Joann Fabrics & Crafts, Hobby lobby, Pens & Leather, kikki-K, MochiThings, Amazon.

5. Can you give some tips on those who love decorating their Filofax pages but are on a budget?
I recommend a couple rolls of washi tape, some post it note flags and a few colored pens...you are good to go to start decorating your weekly pages.  There are always great sales at your local craft stores.  I also recommend stopping at your local "dollar" store too.

6. When did you start using your Filofax and how did it change the way you prepared for the day/week/month?
I was introduced to Filofax in August of last year.  I look forward so much to the weekend to decorate the upcoming week and jotting down all my daily tasks that need to be done for that week.  While I am at work I have my Filofax open so I can see the things that need to be done for that day/night and when I am home in the evening I usually sit down for about 10 minutes to go over the day and see if I need to add anything to me week.

7. How do you organize all of your stationery and supplies?
Lately I have a love for vintage and I have found some vintage cheese boxes that hold my stickers/post it notes/project life cards all nice and neat in a perfect row!

School Planner Essentials

Instagram has been quite the inspiration for our 2014 planners each of us have started using for the new year. If you haven't noticed, everyone who works at Cool Pencil Case is all about the details. With the long list of to-do's each day, tasks look much better with some kawaii tabs, convenient highlighters and pens to color code our lists, and stickers to liven up each plain ol' page. Check out some of our favorites below and get some tips on how to add some fun to your school planner as well!

 

1) School Planners: Though Cool Pencil Case has its share of 2014 planners, there  are a couple of planners available that allow you to write in the date yourself. So technically, you're able to start the year whenever you want. Hey -- it's never too late to get organized right?

2) Decoration Tape: We all have highlighters to draw attention to important notes or dates in our planners, but how about some decoration tape? It works just like correction tape, and dispenses super kawaii designs to highlight important notes on each page.  

3) Notebook Jackets: A select few of us at Cool Pencil Case are constantly losing our pens; which is completely understandable, since we're all constantly walking from the photography studio to our inventory area, etc. We've started to use notebook jackets, which is really convenient simply because we're able to keep our coveted pens in one place and with us. To attach the notebook jacket, simply slip it into your planner or notebook lengthwise.

4) Tabs: We like to go from the weekly planning pages to the note area, so it's obviously a pet peeve when we don't bookmark the last page we left off at. Luckily, we've got some help from our trusty notetabs.

5) We all need a trusty pen or mechanical pencil to match our planners. We suggest the Milky Mechanical Pencil if you want something simple to complement your school planner!
